Known for his lightheartedness, quirky sense of humor, exceptional rock-skipping abilities, passion for Chicago’s restaurants, attention to detail, and dreadful singing, Dr. Krochmal prides himself on providing personalized, compassionate, concierge-level service to all of his patients.

A Michigan native, Dr. Krochmal  graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, and did his General Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona.  He then completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He then trained at the world-renowned Hunstad Kortesis Center in Charlotte where he learned advanced body contouring, breast, and facial aesthetic procedures.

Dr. Krochmal is Board Certified in both Plastic Surgery and General Surgery.  He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Aesthetic Society (formerly known as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery or ASAPS), and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He is dedicated to his patients, and sits on the Patient Safety and the Legislative Advocacy Committees for ASPS.

He continues to be an active researcher to further the field of plastic surgery, and is engaged in projects involving DVT (blood clot) reduction following abdominoplasty, safety in buttocks fat grafting procedures, and outcomes for large volume liposuction for lipedema.

In addition to exploring restaurants, Dr. Krochmal enjoys painting, biking, golfing, spoiling his nephews, and explaining how to pronounce his last name (it’s like a “CROCodile” and a “shopping MALL”).

Meet Stephanie Bryan, APN, FNP-C (Practice Manager and Aesthetic Provider)

Stephanie Practice Manager at The Krochmal Center for Plastic Surgery

With decades of experience as a hospital patient care technician, then floor nurse, then OR nurse with the Central DuPage Hospital’s open heart team (ultimately becoming their team lead!), and then transitioning to be the Program Manager for the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute’s West Region, Stephanie has a solid clinical and administrative nursing background.  After your visit, if you’re wondering why our office functions as well as it does, just thank Stephanie.  Even Dr. Krochmal admits freely that she’s really his boss.

And after years helping to guide patients through the surgical process, Stephanie wanted to get back into doing procedures, so she has transitioned to be our Aesthetic Provider as well!  She was already recommending the microneedling, VI Peels, HydraFacial, Glo2Facial, dermaplaning, Emsculpt Neo muscle toning, and laser hair removal treatments to our patients, and now she’ll be the one actually doing them for you!

A native of the Western Chicago suburbs, she graduated from Elmhurst College (now Elmhurst University) with her nursing degree.  She furthered her education at the University of St. Francis to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and ultimately becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C).  As a child, she always knew she wanted to be a nurse because she was passionate about caring for others.  As her nursing career progressed and she took on more administrative rolls, she began to miss the day-to-day patient interactions.  She now has that fulfillment as our Practice Manager at The Krochmal Center for Plastic Surgery.

When she’s not keeping Dr. Krochmal in line (no easy task, by the way), she’s watching movies with her daughter Phoebe (named for the “Gremlins” movie actress, not the “Friends” TV sitcom), playing with her dogs, and boating.

Meet Rachelle Rodriguez (Hospitality Coordinator)

Our best and favorite plastic surgery receptionist Rachelle

Rachelle is likely the first person you will encounter at our practice, being both the friendly voice on the telephone or the friendly face who greets you at the entrance (with a warm towel and a beverage, of course).  She joined us with over 15 years of experience in the medical field (mostly in Ophthalmology and Cosmetic Dermatology).  She has a passion for aesthetics.  “I have always had keen interest in Plastic Surgery.  Seeing the amazing transformations that come from plastic surgery — I wanted to be a part of something beautiful.”  She thrives on building patient relationships an seeing confidence that comes after surgical and nonsurgical treatments.  “I’m thrilled to be a part of this incredible team.  It’s extremely rewarding!”

Rachelle is a mother of 4 and “Glam-Ma” of 1.  She enjoys biking, nature walks, cooking (including hosting dinner parties), and kicking butt at dominos.

Meet Kamila (Medical Assistant)

Medical assistant with the great plastic surgeon Daniel Krochmal in Hinsdale

Kamila joined our practice with over 3 years of experience in orthopedics, surgical dermatology, and ophthalmology.  She found herself gravitating towards the aesthetic aspect of her previous practices.  “I am excited to join The Krochmal Center for Plastic Surgery and grow my passion for aesthetics even more!”  She enjoys caring for patients, and has decided to take her patient care experience to the next level.  She is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree as is expected to graduate in 2026!  Her goal is to be an OR nurse and help patients through their operations.  “Surgery can be stressful for people, and I want to be the one to make the experience as pleasant as possible while keeping them safe.”  While she pursues her BSN, she’ll be helping you navigate your surgery and recovery and explore our other aesthetic services.

When she’s not working or studying, she enjoys cooking and exploring restaurants, painting (her new hobby), tweaking coffee recipes with her Nespresso machine, and watching true crime documentaries.

Meet Joy (Our Barista)

Joy, our Jura E8, joined our practice in 2022.  Although she has roots in Switzerland, Joy was born in Portugal and emigrated to the United States soon afterwards.  Dr. Krochmal interviewed quite a few applicants for the position, but it was Joy’s work ethic, consistency, variety of offerings, personality (she extols “Enjoy” after each cup made), and relatively low maintenance that made her stand out from the crowd.  She is a vital member of our team and definitely keeps us going!

Joy is a bit of a homebody so she doesn’t get out too much.  When she isn’t making a delicious cup of espresso/flat white/cappuccino/Americano/etc., she enjoys taking naps (power saving mode) and self-cleaning at seemingly random times.
